Business Internet Banking - FAQs

Do we need to pay for any charges to subscribe for the service?

Our Business Internet Banking (BIB) service is offered free of charge, however, there is a small handling charge associated with the delivery of the Security Device. For transactional related charges, please refer to our tariff of charges.

 

Is the service secured?

At HSBC, we are committed to improving online security for our customers. Security is our top priority. Your financial information is protected by :

- Username and Password
- Security Device and Security Codes
- 128-bit SSL encryption
- Automatic 'time-out' session

 

Do I need to use my Security Device when performing any transactions?

You will need to enter a Security Code (from your Security Device) for the transactions listed below:

- Transfers to Third Party via Cashier's Order, Demand Draft, MEPS GIRO and/or Telegraphic Transfers
- Transfers to Other HSBC Account (excluding own account)
- Transfers to Other HSBC Credit Card
- Add Payee for Bill Payment

 

How do I register for BIB service?

You need to complete the HSBC's Business Connect Application Form and provide details of each Primary User and Secondary User whom your company has nominated to have access to BIB.

Upon completion of the Application Form, please submit the form to the HSBC Branch where your business maintains an account. The Branch will review your Application Form and thereafter forward it to our Central Processing Centre to set-up your BIB service. Each User will receive a unique Electronic Banking ID, Password and Security Device from the Bank in order to access to the service.

 

How do I obtain a copy of the Business Connect Application Form?

You can go to the Download Centre via http://www.hsbc.com.my to obtain a copy of the Business Connect Application Form by downloading and printing the form

 

How many users can I nominate?

Depending on your business and financial control requirements, you must nominate at least one Primary User and up to nine (9) Secondary Users.

 

Can we control what users can do?

Yes, they can be granted "enquiry only" status, which means they cannot perform any fund transfers or individual payment limits which means they are empowered to make payments on behalf of the company.

 

What are payment limits?

Yes. Different users are allowed to have different payment limits. A user can authorise transactions up to his/her daily limits and/or transaction limits. If a user creates a transaction but does not have the sufficient limits to authorise the transaction it will be sent to the 'Authorisation Pending' queue and must be approved by another user with the sufficient limit.

 

Can I use contract rate or a special rate to perform a foreign currency payment?

You can key in the Foreign Exchange (FEX) Contract Number to apply the contracted rate for the foreign currency payment if a Foreign Currency Contract has been made. However, special rates for foreign currency payment is not supported at this moment.

 

Do I get a reference number for each payment that I make?

Yes. A unique transaction reference number will be automatically generated for each payment transaction executed.

 

Can I perform payments to accounts with other local banks?

Yes. You can effect local payments to other accounts with participating IBG Banks via MEPS Interbank Giro (IBG).

 

How do we access BIB?

Go to "www.hsbc.com.my" and click the "Log On" button under Business Internet Banking.

 

What types of computer system specifications do I need for Internet Banking?

You need a computer with a phone line or broadband internet connection and any operating system using Microsoft Windows, WIN ME, NT4.0, 2000, XP Home or XP Professional for PC users.

 

Can I download my statement details?

Yes. You can download your statements simply by clicking on the 'Download Transaction Details' located on the left hand navigation menu. Statement can be downloaded in any of the following formats:

- QFX (Quicken 2004 for Windows/Quicken 2005 for MAC)
- QIF (Common Interchange Format)
- Common Spreadsheets (Comma Delimited Format)
- Text Format

The data in Common Spreadsheets (CSV format) can be imported into most of the commonly used spreadsheet programmes or accounting systems.
